FAQ

So, you might be wondering, how exactly does this work?

If NOURISH is an approach you decide to explore, we begin our work together with a 90-minute Discovery Session. Here, we discuss your current concerns, your history, your overall health (physical, emotional, financial, spiritual), sleep and eating patterns, stressors, hopes, dreams, interests, fears, your therapeutic goals, amongst many other topics. The information gathered helps us craft a completely custom plan for your unique nourishment.

During this time we also review policies and procedures, risks and benefits, fees, payment options and complete any necessary paperwork. If you choose to participate in outdoor sessions, we talk about how your confidentiality and privacy will be protected, how we handle potential run-ins with people you may know while we are working together, and, of course, the weather!

After that, depending upon your preference, we venture to the trails, the beach, the pavement or the couch, for a 60-minute session. For those wanting more time, 90-minute sessions and/or 4-5 hour intensives are available upon request.

Where do you meet?

I have 2 office locations- one is rooted in the heart of the charming, ocean-side town of Westport, MA; the other lives in the wildly diverse city of Cambridge, MA. Outdoor sessions are available at both and locations are discussed and agreed upon prior to that session. Telehealth sessions are also an option.

What is running therapy?

The emerging field of running therapy is one that combines the benefits of traditional talk therapy with physical exercise. It is NOT about hitting splits or sprinting around a track. It IS about forward movement, both physically and metaphorically. We use walking/running to guide the talking because not only does movement inspire introspection but motion also evokes emotion.

Running or walking sessions are held at a conversational pace, one in which you are able to talk comfortably. Finding your pace is part of our work together and it is different for everyone. We often slow down, rest as needed and use that time to practice checking-in, notice any physical sensations, thoughts, feelings that may arise for you and process those felt experiences.

What is yoga therapy?

The International Association of Yoga Therapists defines yoga therapy as “the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the adaptation and application of the teachings and practices of Yoga.” It is a holistic approach to healing that incorporates various postures, breathing techniques, meditation practices and yoga philosophy to foster psychological and physical wellbeing.

Do I have to be “a runner” or “a yogi” to utilize services at NOURISH?

Absolutely not! NOURISH is a brave, safe space open to all no matter your age, gender or athletic ability. We don’t have to incorporate movement into our sessions. Walking/running/yoga are optional sources of nourishment and it is completely OK to not utilize any or all of them.

What is nature-based therapy?

The 25-year-old field of Ecotherapy, or green therapy or nature-based therapy, explores how our relationship with nature is an essential and therapeutic part of our humanity. It affirms that to be truly healthy and whole, we must allow nature to nurture. Ecotherapy has ancient roots in indigenous people’s knowledge of the healing powers of nature and practices of honoring the Earth. Its modern roots are in the interface of ecology, environmental activism and psychology, to name a few. Here at NOURISH, we can go outside and use Mother Nature as a teacher and reconnect with our roots. Plus, research proves that spending time outdoors is one of the best ways to reduce stress and overwhelm and dramatically shift your physical and emotional state!

Do you take insurance?

No. I provide you with receipt(s) for you to submit to your carrier for reimbursement.

What are your fees?

In accordance with the No Surprises Act of January 2022, depending on the service and session duration, my fees range from $200-$300. Fees are discussed during the consultation call and a 50% deposit is required to book the initial, Discovery session. I also offer an investment package for 10, 60-minute sessions at a discounted rate.

Therapy is an investment in YOU — your time, your energy, your health, your wellbeing — and NOT just another expense. YOU are worth it! Cash, check, credit card and HSA/FSA are all acceptable modes of payment. Upon request, I will also provide you with all the paperwork you need to submit your own reimbursement claim.

What about safety?

Your safety and wellbeing are my top priorities. In the unlikely event of an emergency, I will always have access to my cell phone, no matter if we are walking or running, sitting down, indoors or outdoors. I am also certified in both CPR and First Aid. Outdoor-based sessions will not be held past 5 pm in the winter months, unless otherwise discussed and agreed upon.
